Research
Sipani Krishi Anusandhan Farm, Mandsaur, is where we breed new varieties and prove every product before farmers use it.
We set up SKAF in 1991–92. In 2008 we signed a long-term agreement with the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), its first with a private organisation, and on 5 March 2018 Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary DARE and Director General of ICAR, inaugurated the IARI–SKAF Collaborative Outstation Research Centre at the farm.
Here we breed and maintain wheat, soybean, maize and pigeonpea, and every Micro product is trialled on real crops before it goes to market.
Bred at SKAF
Wheat, soybean, maize, mustard and pigeonpea, bred and selected in Mandsaur. Our wheat varieties are registered with the PPV&FRA.

Sharbati and high-yielding wheats, bred for grain quality and heat tolerance.

Soybeans selected for heavy podding and dependable yield.

Hybrid maize, including Corn Star-2001, evaluated in our fields by the Agriculture Commissioner of India.

Mustard for the rabi season, grown and selected at the farm.

Extra-early pigeonpea of 110–130 days, made for a pigeonpea–wheat rotation.

I am highly impressed with the achievements of Shri Sipani on wheat, maize, soybean and arhar. The emphasis on quality improvement, earliness, heat tolerance are all highly relevant areas of research.
Was highly impressed by the display of genetic variation in wheat. He has many years of efforts and dedicated involvement with rich experience that is benefitting the farmers.
The spirit and dedication of Sh. Sipani ji is wonderful and inspiration for others. The varieties developed by the SKAF will serve the humanity now and future.
I am thankful to Dr. N.S. Sipani ji for initiating SKAF. He is a stalwart and pioneer in the field of varietal development and seed production, especially wheat, soybean and pigeonpea. The collaboration with IARI as an outreach centre is appreciable. MPUAT, Udaipur already has an MoU with SKAF, Mandsaur for multifaceted development in agriculture. The farm is well established and developed. I hope that this joint collaboration will bring spectacular change in varietal development and seed production and serve the farmers for their prosperity.
My first visit to this facility has been an eye-opening, rewarding and fulfilling experience. The research, dedication and time devoted here is evident. Work on diversity, genome preservation, yield maximisation and crop resilience is worthy of appreciation. I congratulate the entire team and especially Sh. Sipani for his tireless efforts. He’s a beacon of hope for food security and progress of this nation.
I am happy to visit Sipani Krishi Anusandhan Farm, a CORC of ICAR-IARI and an important centre of agricultural research and development in M.P. SKAF has done commendable work in wheat and soybean improvement, and popularisation of improved crop varieties among farmers to enhance the income of farmers. The Pusa–Sipani Seed Sale Counter opened today, along with other infrastructure, will contribute to the prosperity of farmers. I admire the dedication of Dr. N. Sipani ji for the farmers’ welfare. My best wishes.
Today I visited the ICAR-IARI Sipani Agriculture Farm. I was very much surprised to see the work done by Mr. Sipani and his team at Mandsaur. I haven’t seen this number of wheat varieties anywhere else. The work by this institution is definitely a symbol of hard work and dedication. My best wishes.
I am very happy to see the research and development programme on wheat and other crop research activities. This centre is doing best work looking into the requirement of farmers’ needs. Several farmers’ varieties were identified at this farm for commercial cultivation. The crop improvement programmes are linked with the seed system, which I consider as best practice in MP.
Excellent work on crop development by the private sector, in collaboration with ICAR. Many new environmentally safe agrochemicals have been developed. Phosphonate and sulphur preparations have good scope in disease management in grapes.
Excellent work on wheat and maize improvement is going on. In wheat, this centre has collected a large number of indigenous germplasm and the wheat improvement programme has been taken up in a very systematic way. The varieties developed are very popular in M.P. and other states. Wish all the success in its future endeavours.
I must compliment Mr. Sipani and his team for the diversity of the wheat germplasm that they have on the field and a whole lot of very promising material ready to go to the farmers. The short visit was a very memorable event. With best wishes.
Warm welcome. Very impressed by range of diversity in field, some beautiful lines with exceptional ear size. Broad diversification with Durum × Aestivum crosses, great idea. Looking forward to seeing more of your program. Wishing you good success with finding the silver bullet. Many compliments.
As expected, over the last five years, SKF has progressed and has made IARI’s proposal of long-term R&D collaboration flourish, and successfully developed and taken technologies ahead to farmers. Congrats and keep it flying up.
