Why farmers use it
- Treating garlic and onion crops stops unwanted sprouting in the field, raising the value and quality of the crop.
- Treatment protects garlic and onion from 'dantri' (bulb splitting) and strengthens the outer skin of the bulb.
- All the food made by the treated crop goes into developing the cloves, so bulbs grow bigger and yield rises by 15–20 percent.
- In storage, weight loss slows down right up to the end of the year, and stored garlic and onion are protected from sprouting.
